Kinder HSPVA Theatre Middle School Workshop

The Kinder HSPVA Theatre Middle School Workshop provides a unique opportunity for middle school students to participate in an all-day workshop of theatre skills. Each student will participate in three 50-minute theatre skills workshops. Different material will be covered at each grade level. Workshops include skills development sessions in acting, improvisation, theatre games, musical theatre, technical theatre, and more. All eighth-grade students will attend a workshop on audition techniques.
A pizza lunch is included. Attendees will attend a performance by HSPVA Theatre Students at the close of the event, and participants will receive a commemorative Kinder HSPVA Theatre Workshop t-shirt.
Because of the advance planning required, no refunds or transfers are available.

Students should wear comfortable theatre-rehearsal-type clothes that they can freely move around in and get a little dusty. They will be sitting (and crawling) on the floor, moving through the Scene Shop and backstage areas, etc. No skirts, dresses, or flip-flops please.
The HSPVA Theatre Guild is a volunteer parent organization that assists with fundraising and enhancement programs for the Kinder HSPVA Theatre Department. The Theatre Guild is a part of HSPVA Friends, a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization.
The Theatre Department has 135 students who are divided into four levels. Students in Levels 1 and 2 begin by studying all aspects of theatre including acting, voice and movement for the actor, design, theatre history, musical theatre, dramaturgy, play-writing , directing, and stage management. In the second semester of the Level 2 year, students will choose an area of focus in which to specialize for the Level 3 and 4 years of study. They will focus on hands-on preparation, production, and performance as well as audition and portfolio development for college auditions.
